My services are tailored to the special needs of the pilot. Whether you are launching a career as a new pilot, concerned about retaining your current flight status, or trying to transition into a new job with greater responsibility, our program can help you.
What is my unique background as an Aviation Optometrist?
My background includes a professional degree in optometry. I am also an experienced flight instructor and I have more than 15 years of experience in aviation biomedical research. The result is that the service I provide to each pilot includes specialized vision testing available in no other eye care practice.
My Services Include:
Specialized Eye Care Services
Defining visual capability early in a pilots career provides a buffer of safety from predicatble changes in vision that occur with normal aging. This proactive process reduces the stress on the pilot from the fear of potentially loosing employment from delays that may occur from poorly or non-documented changes in vision- changes that may ultimately result in delay of the pilots medical certification.
Lecturing
Lecturing services include topics on aviation safety and collision avoidance, the aviation medical and impact on pilot performance, (Including an overveiw of the latest developments in eye research).
Industry Consulting
Human engineering and ergonomics research includes cockpit hardware development and avionics and how the pilot may optimize visual effectiveness with existing and new "glass cockpit" hardware. Expertise in hardware development includes recommendations for engineering development to optimize visual effectiveness of the hardware by the pilot using CRT's, heads up and helmet mounted displays as well as night vision goggles.
